Officer Ron Glifort, Community Liaison Officer, Hamden Police Department brought the club members up-to-date on his many activites interacting with the Hamden Community. Officer Glifort has attended several Hamden events where the Hamden Rotary was a participant. Dr. Stroup visited us and discussed the people of Kenya and his initiatives in that country Alison Cunningham, the Executive Director of The Columbus House in New Haven visited with us and discussed the many activities and needs she and CH have in trying to meet the housing and basic living needs of the growing diverse population within our community. Hamden Rotarian Lynda Hammond discusses her recent trip to Doninican Republic as a member of a volunteer medical team whose mission it was to perform heart surgery on infants and children. Al Gorman, Hamden Town Council President, and husband of Rotarian Betsy Gorman, visits the club to discuss the construction process for the new police station.
Mimsie Coleman of the Hamden Arts Commission visited with club members and updated us on 2009 programs including the outdoor concerts schedule. Tom Hylinski, Hamden Rotarian & Executive VP, New Alliance Bank discusses the real estate market - past, present and future. An impromptu presentation by Rev. Owen Sanderson of “when I was a little boy…”  Many loved getting to know another member’s earlier years. It is always interesting to hear someone else's story. Mike surprises Cathy Forsberg by being our guest Norman Methot returned to our club and gave members a lively presentation discussing his recent visits to Haiti on behalf of the Haitian Health Foundation Janet Kniffin, Development Manager of the Connecticut Food Bank, brought the CFB story to the HRC. Thank you Janet. After almost 25 years, Fred Sette returns as a speaker, rather than club president, to discuss the current circumstances of living wills and their importance today. Third Congressional District Republican hopeful Peggy Rogers pays a visit to RCH.
