Lynda Hammond and Officer Ron Glifort of the Hamden Police Department have a little fun at the St. Stephens Elementary School's Shred Doc's Day which included an AMBER Alert ID processing session. The event was coordinated by the eighth grade class and class advisor Michelle Florensen Cathy Forsberg and John Karavas in the forground which Lynda Hammond process AMBER Alert ID cards for parents at the St. Stephens Elementary Shred Day function Lynda Hammond takes a moment from processing AMBER Alert ID cards to pose with St. Stephens School's Junior Mohammad Elahee President, and John Karavas, President Elect, present to the Alison Cunningham, Director of Columbus House Operations, a donation of $3,400 jointly raised by HRC and The QU Rotaract Club. On June 1, 2009 The Hamden Rotary Club presented awards to Outstanding Students of Eli Whitney Tech High School. Pictured here are the students, their honored teachers, family and friends and Master of Cermonies, John Nolan. On 6/8/09 HRC held its Athletic Awards dinner presenting trophies to Hamden High School Athletes who demonestrated the ideals held proudly by Rotarians around the world. Pictured here are the award winning students and various coaches. Attending the dinner was 2008-09 District Governor Rick Benson purposely to present some distinquished awards to Hamden Rotary Club Members Governor Benson presentated a Paul Harris award to Herb Hick (Rotary Club of the Stoningtons). Also Jack Eagan, recent recipient of Paul Harris Award (Rotary Club of Clinton) stands in support of John Judd who received a Paul Harris Award, plus a Service Above Self Award (Hamden Rotary Club). Rit and Lynda Hammond are all ready for the kids of St. Bernadette's Church to get their AMBER Alert/Missing Children ID cards.
Surrounded by Hamden & New Haven Rotarians, plus local parents and children, Lynda Hammond processes those ID cards for kids. A little fellowship never hurts. The Relay for Life Breakfast 2009 started w/ John Nolan opening the kitchen and Ted Lipkin cooking the scrambled eggs.

The turnout was great for both the Hamden Rotarians as well as those who walked to raise money for cancer research. Even with all the work, there was still time for friendship. And they just kept on coming. Thank You Rotarians for getting up early and putting Service above Self. A great picnic meeting was organized by Jeff Williams and Joena Russell. There was plenty of conversation between friends and old friends. Mike Lipman, Betsy Gorman and Linka Lewis had plenty to talk about. Now this gathering can't be good. Or is it? It is always amazing for people who generally see each other every week, in Rotary there is always plenty to talk about. That Reverand Sanderson seems to show up EVERYWHERE!!
Conrad Sienkiewicz visited with us and discussed the concept and intend of his An AMBER Alert ID session was processed by Joena Russell, Ted Lipkin, Linka Lewis and John Karavas for a National Night Out celebration. Joena is processing a mother's child while Ted just finished helping with a signup sheet. As always, Linka Lewis is there to help. Rotarian Irfan Ahmed, two club officers of the Pakistan American Association of CT, and Rotarian John Karavas gather in So. Windsor, CT for an AMBER Alert ID card session during a pre-holiday club gathering. Rotarian Irfan Ahmed and a boyhood friend reminisce while waiting for the next parent to arrive to register their child for an AMBER Alert ID card. So with the 50/50 pot down to 3 chips and $270+, JJ comes up a winner. The Rev counts it out and JJ makes sure there are no mistakes. JJ gets his winnings w/ the Rev. getting his usual cut, or so it seems.
President John Karavas presented a $1,000 check to Habitat for Humanity's Mike Healy on behalf of the RCH Foundation.
